BranchOut Hits 25 Million Users, Nabs $25M In Series C Funding

BranchOutBranchOut is officially going for the big time. The company, which makes a professional social network that runs on top of Facebook, is announcing today it has closed on $25 million in new funding, bringing its total venture capital investment to $49 million. This latest batch of money, which serves as BranchOut's Series C round, was led by the Mayfield Fund with the participation of previous investors Accel Partners, Norwest Venture Partners and Redpoint Ventures. The money will be used mainly for hiring more employees to add to BranchOut's current full-time staff of 45, founder and CEO Rick Marini said in an interview, which you can watch in full in the video embedded above. At less than two years old, BranchOut certainly seems to be on a fast track when it comes to funding. But according to Marini, the money is only following the company's very real growth. BranchOut now has more than 25 million registered users, more than half of which -- 13.5 million -- are active on the app each month. To put those numbers into context, more than three new users are joining BranchOut every second. When BranchOut first debuted in July 2010, it was often characterized as a "LinkedIn for Facebook" -- but it's becoming apparent that BranchOut is carving out a very clear identity of its own.

Jan-Pro Launches VetConnection? - First Fully Customized Commercial Cleaning Franchise Business Opportunity for Veterans

The first nationally branded program of its kind, Jan-Pro?s VetConnection offers special incentives for veterans to build a commercial cleaning business, using similar skill sets, training, and proven methods used by the military.

Alpharetta, GA (PRWEB) April 17, 2012

Jan-Pro Franchising International, Inc. (Jan-Pro), an established global leader in commercial cleaning, today officially launched its VetConnection franchise program, the first branded, fully customized cleaning franchise opportunity specially designed for veterans - announcing business opportunities available all across the United States.

Utilizing similar skill sets and methods learned in the military, a veteran can build a successful business with VetConnection. A veteran simply needs to choose the location of his or her Jan-Pro business, choose their investment level, and discuss their individual business growth plan. Jan-Pro will provide complete training, full support services, and will even provide customers to the new veteran-owned business, so no selling is required.

?After my service in the Army, my wife and I were able to realize our dream of starting our own business through Jan-Pro,? said Rafael Marrero, Jan-Pro of Atlanta. ?In our first year we grew by over 400% through new client referrals.?

JAN-PRO also plans to lead the industry in terms of the unique financial incentives it offers to veterans who purchase franchises. Depending on the franchise plan selected and the amount of cash the veteran puts down as the initial fee, discounts of up to 20% are available. In addition JAN-PRO is introducing another industry first for veterans called VetConnection Vouchers which will be redeemable on JAN-PRO approved cleaning equipment and supplies.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate for veterans remains high. Unemployment among veterans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan rose to 12.1% in 2011, up from 11.5% the year prior. Veteran advocates feel programs like Jan-Pro VetConnection and others are needed, especially considering that the Pentagon is preparing to cut 123,900 troops by fiscal year 2017, according to Business Week.

Lawrence Adkinson, USMC veteran and today, Jan-Pro of Salt Lake City owner, put it this way: ?By researching the franchise janitorial industry, my wife and I decided that their solid history, business structure, training and support made Jan-Pro the best opportunity. I am proud to be a USMC vet and proud to be on the Jan-Pro team.?

Long recognized as a leader in the commercial cleaning industry, Jan-Pro has been named a ?Top 10 Franchise for Veterans? by Franchise Business Review, a ?Top 50 Franchise for Military Veterans? by World Franchising, and a ?Military Friendly Franchise? by G.I. Jobs. With its strong franchise concept, Jan-Pro has achieved the unmatched accomplishment of being ranked ?#1 Fastest Growing Franchise? three consecutive years by Entrepreneur Magazine.

?My leadership education and experiences as an Enlisted Soldier, and later as an Officer have proven to be as valuable in my Jan-Pro business as they were during my military career,? said Justin Cali, Owner Jan-Pro Orlando. Christopher Robertson, U.S. Navy veteran of Jan-Pro Jacksonville agrees: ?My military experience definitely prepared me to run my Jan-Pro franchise. We learned about leadership, accountability, and most of all dealing with people.?

?We?re not aware of any company in our category offering veterans anything like this level of financial incentives and we?re proud to be doing our part to help them start businesses of their own. A JAN-PRO franchise is a perfect match of skills and training for ex-military personnel at all levels,? said CEO Rich Kissane.

The Durham Performing Arts Center will present Bring It On: The Musical on April 17-22 in its 2,700-seat, state-of-the-art theater, in the American Tobacco District in downtown Durham, NC. It is a up-close-and-personal behind-the-scenes look at the world of competitive cheerleading as dramatized on the silver screen in the teenage comedy Bring It On (2000), directed by Peyton Reed and starring Kirsten Dunst, and its four direct-to-DVD sequels: Bring It On Again (2004), Bring It On: All or Nothing (2006), Bring It On: In It to Win It (2007), and Bring It On: Fight to the Finish (2009).

Thumbnailing the plot for the video release of Bring It On (2000), Universal Studios Entertainment writes:

?The Toro cheerleading squad has spirit, spunk, sass and a killer routine that?s sure to land them the national championship trophy for the sixth year in a row. But for newly-elected team captain, ? the Toro?s road to cheer glory stumbles when she discovers their perfectly choreographed routines were stolen from a hot hip-hop squad across town. Now the squad must scramble to find a new routine to compete in this year?s competition.?

According to the press kit for the current national tour of Bring It On: The Musical, which will play April 17-22 at the Durham Performing Arts Center:

?After a nationwide search of over 3,000 performers, the producers of Bring It On: The Musical [announced] the cast for the [current] National Tour, which launche[d] at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles on Oct. 30, 2011.

??Assembling this extraordinary company has been an incredibly exciting ? and thorough ? endeavor,? said Tony Award-winning director/choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler. ?We found an amazing group that sings, dances, stunts and cheers. They are a talented group of newcomers, led by two dynamic leading ladies. I can?t wait for audiences to see them.?

?Leading the cast are Taylor Louderman and Adrienne Warren. Louderman, playing the role of Campbell, is a 20-year-old newcomer from the University of Michigan. Warren, previously seen in the National Tour of Dreamgirls at the Ahmanson Theatre, portrays Danielle, a role she originated in Bring It On: The Musical?s developmental production at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta [from Jan. 15 to Feb. 20, 2011].

?Ryann Redmond, a 2011 graduate of New York University, recreates the role of Bridget that she originated in the Alliance Theatre Production. Elle McLemore (Disney?s ?Suite Life on Deck?) plays Eva, and Jason Gotay (Broadway?s Rising Stars and Rent) stars as Randall.

?Also starring are Ariana DeBose (Hairspray, ?So You Think You Can Dance?) as Nautica, Gregory Haney (Memphis) as La Cienega, Neil Haskell (?So You Think You Can Dance?) as Steven, Janet Krupin as Kylar, Kate Rockwell (Legally Blonde) as Skylar, and Nick Womack as Twig.

?Additional cast members include Calli Alden, Nikki Bohne, Dexter Carr, Shonica Gooden, Haley Hannah, Rod Harrelson, Casey Jamerson, Dominique Johnson, Michael Mindlin, Adrianna Parson, and Bettis Richardson.

?The ensemble also features some of the nation?s most skilled competitive cheerleaders. Their combined achievements include over 25 national and 50 team titles in gymnastics and choreography. They were selected in collaboration with Varsity, the global leader in competitive cheerleading. Those members include Antwan Bethea, Danielle Carlacci, Michael Naone-Carter, Courtney Corbeille, Dahlston Delgado, Brooklyn Freitag, Melody Mills, David Ranck, Billie Sue Roe, Sheldon Tucker, and Lauren Whitt.

?Bring It On: The Musical is the explosive new musical comedy that raises the stakes on over-the-top high school rivalries. Set against the world of competitive cheerleading, this powerhouse new show hilariously proves that winning isn?t everything when it means losing something ? or someone ? you really care about. Bring It On: The Musicalcombines an exciting fresh sound, gravity-defying choreography, and a thrilling story to create a total theatrical event worth cheering for.

?Bring It On: The Musical unites some of the freshest and funniest creative minds on Broadway with libretto by Tony Award-winner Jeff Whitty (Avenue Q), music and lyrics by Tony Award-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda (In the Heights), music by Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning composer Tom Kitt (Next to Normal), lyrics by Broadway lyricist Amanda Green (High Fidelity), and music supervision by Tony and Grammy? Award-winner Alex Lacamoire (Wicked). The production is directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Andy Blankenbuehler (In the Heights).

?Bring It On: The Musical is produced by Universal Pictures Stage Productions / Glenn Ross; Beacon Communications /Armyan Bernstein and Charlie Lyons; and Kristin Caskey and Mike Isaacson, executive producers.

?Members of the artistic design team that help bring this production to life are David Korins, set designer; Andrea Lauer, costume designer; Jason Lyons, lighting designer; Brian Ronan, sound designer; Charles G. LaPointe, hair designer; and Jeff Sugg, video designer.

?When the musical comedy premiered in its developmental production at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta earlier this year, Wendell Brock of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution called Bring It On: The Musical ?one high-energy drink with fiercely funny writing, catchy hip-hop tunes and an explosively original mix of singing, acting, dancing and cheer.? Audrey S. Belle of AOL.com raved that Bring It On: The Musical ?is guaranteed to be everything you wished for, nothing like you expected, but exactly what you will love!?
