Corner Infielders
Mark Hamilton, 1B, St. Louis Cardinals
With Albert Pujols (forearm fracture) officially being placed on the DL, Hamilton was brought back up after being optioned Saturday. Lance Berkman is the obvious choice to move to first base in Pujols' absence, but the Cards' brass is downplaying that assumption, which means Hamilton could see more PT than you might think.
Hamilton, 26, hasn't shown much at the major league level, but he hasn't had the luxury of consistent at-bats. In just 26 ABs this year, he's 3-for-26 with one double, one RBI, one walk and 11 strikeouts. The lefty has some pop, though, and was hitting .385 with a .504 OBP and a .538 slugging percentage in 27 games with Class AAA Memphis. His fantasy value is likely to remain minimal, but the Red Birds may elect to go with more power in the lineup to make up for the loss of Pujols.

Outfielders
Wily Mo Pena, Arizona Diamondbacks
Pena is back in the bigs for the first time since 2008 with the Washington Nationals. The D-Backs made the call-up Tuesday as they embark on a short road trip to American League parks (at Kansas City and Detroit). Pena is expected to serve in the designated hitter role for Arizona. The Diamondbacks also travel to Oakland July 1-3.
Pena dealt with injuries in '08 and spent the last two years toiling in the minors and the Independent League. This year with Triple-A Reno, the burly Dominican hit .363 with 21 jacks, 63 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .726. Pena has always shown plenty of power, but his plate discipline hurts him; at Reno, he struck out 48 times to just 25 walks. His call-up figures to be brief, but if he can maintain his hot hitting in the bigs, he could be a quick source of power in the short term.

Jarrod Dyson, Kansas City Royals
The Royals elected for another outfielder after optioning Vin Mazzaro back to the minors. That gives KC five outfielders on the active roster: Dyson, Melky Cabrera, Jeff Francoeur, Alex Gordon and Mitch Maier. Playing time will be hard to come by, and Dyson figures to be used as a pinch runner and hitter as the team travels to a couple of NL parks during interleague play.
Dyson, 26, gives the Royals a potent speed option off the bench; he stole nine bags in 17 games earlier this year and swiped 14 in 16 attempts at Triple-A Omaha. Dyson's path to consistent action in the bigs is impeded, so only look to him as an option of you're scratching for stolen bases.
