Life on the frontier is never easy. You have to carve a place to live from the wilderness, gamble with if you'll have enough food to last the winter and then there are the some times less then friendly natives. Things only get harder, then the frontier becomes the front lines for a war between colonial empires. War parties from local tribes, allied to either power, slip across the lines on the map, attacking small settlements. The smoke of burning farmsteads mingles with lingering banks of gun smoke, as the thunder of musketry echoes across the frontier.
Alright folks, I've been feeling an urge to play a game set around the French and Indian War (thats the Seven Year's War to you European types). I blame the 1755 Old Frontier mod for Mount and Blade: Warband. Anyways, I don't want to do the French and Indian war, cause we all know how that ends. Kinda boring that way but I like the setting, so I was thinking that create some nations, make up some new places on a vague North American landmass and go from there.
The story would focus on a small settlement on the frontier, mostly a trading outpost, which attracts trappers and natives, with a few small farms, on a river. It also has a three story blockhouse, as a defensive measure. After the stand in for the British suffers a really bad defeat, our characters will suffer raids from natives, plus irregulars and regulars from the stand in for the French. They'll have to either try to weather the storm of war or strike back, attacking enemy camps. Because it's a small settlement, we will be lacking in manpower, so women will be welcome to take up arms.
Anyways, anyone interested before I start putting work into this idea?
