Charleston-based commercial real estate firm Coppedge & Tison and its Greenville outpost now are part of a bigger Cushman & Wakefield franchise.
Expansion-minded Cushman & Wakefield|Thalhimer of Richmond, Va., recently acquired the eight-year-old Palmetto State agency, boosting its mid-Atlantic real estate services business to 10 offices and 125 brokers spread over three states. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"South Carolina has a diverse business base, and the Charleston and Greenville economies have performed exceptionally well," said Paul F. Silver, chairman and chief executive officer of Thalhimer.
Last year, Thalhimer entered the Charlotte and Raleigh markets. The independently owned firm was founded in 1913. The newly acquired Charleston operation was established in 2004 by veteran brokers John B. Coppedge III and John Tison as Commercial Carolina of South Carolina. The East Bay Street firm later changed its name to Coppedge & Tison Commercial Real Estate and became the local affiliate of the global Cushman & Wakefield brand.
Coppedge has been named senior vice president emeritus. Tison and Edward J. Kercher Jr. are senior vice presidents.
Mark Erickson, Todd E. Younghans, Marcus M. Cornelius IV and Philip Owens are vice presidents, and Ryan K. Weatherly has joined the firm as a brokerage associate.
